Last night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, “UFC on Versus 4” went down, and it proved to be a tremendous event from top to bottom! In spite of all the craziness the night before regarding the exile of Nate Marquardt from Zuffa, the show went on and gave us some great highlight reel moments!
The story of the night was Cheick Kongo’s huge comeback knockout over Pat Barry in the main event. Barry clobbered Kongo around for most of the match, knocking him down and almost out repeatedly. Referee Dan Miragliotta nearly stopped the fight each time this happened, but Kongo pushed on and with legs made of rubber delivered a picture-perfect punch to Barry’s chin that sent him to the mat to end the night.
Charlie Brenneman won a decision over Rick Story, utilizing his wrestling and ground game to stifle Story. John Howard and Matt Brown also went to war in a three round battle, which saw Howard come out on top after three back and forth rounds. To start the night, Matt Mitrione knocked out Christian Morecraft in the second round with a a right hook followed by a straight left hand and a straight right that sent Morecraft’s mouthpiece flying into orbit.
