EA SPORTS MMA Designer Rocky Rivero breaks down every aspect of the EA SPORTS MMA demo, which will be released tomorrow morning, or Tuesday, September 28th, for those without a lunar calendar in arms reach. In a nutshell, the demo will feature four fighters for you to play as – Jake Shields and Jason “Mayhem” Miller in the middleweight divison, and Bobby Lashley and Alistair Overeem in the heavyweight division.

Your demo bout takes place in the Strikeforce ring (where else?) and graphically the game looks superb. The question now is how well does this game play? We will have answers very soon! It is interesting to note that Rivero says “this is not a button-masher” so timing will be a crucial element in the gameplay. There are also a few other keen things the demo will add, including a chance to unlock a classic version of Randy Couture. Check out the trailer above!

Coming in October, EA will be finally releasing their EA Sports MMA video game on PS3 and Xbox 360. However, something has been flying under the radar and is a nice little surprise to a select group of hardcore fans who like pixelated ground and pound on the go!

Revealed on EA’s facebook page, the company is preparing a pocket-sized version of their MMA video game to be released at an undisclosed date. We can assume the release will not be too far out from the publication of their next-gen console version of the game, but we will update you once we know.

Details are sparse about this version but from the pictures on the facebook page, we can tell that there is a create-a-fighter mode as well as just normal play mode. How the game plays is also an unknown factor at this time, such as how you control your fighter since MMA can not be the easiest thing to manipulate on something as limited as an iPhone. Anyone plan on getting this for their iPhone and how do you think this game will play to begin with?

The final two lists of fighters have been revealed! EA Sports has been releasing their roster of fighters each week for the past month, starting with their heavyweights like Fedor, Randy Couture, & Brett Rogers and light-heavyweights such as , followed by their middleweights including Cung Le, Jake Shields, Frank Shamrock, and Jason “Mayhem” Miller, and now concluding with the welterweights and lightweights!

Above is the official lightweight roster, which includes Lyle Beerbohm, Josh Thomson, Gilbert Melendez, Mizuto Hirota, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Gesias Cavalcante, Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro, Eddie Alvarez, Shinya Aoki, Saturo Kitaoka, Hayata “Mach” Sakurai, Billy Evangelista, Kron Gracie and Joachim Hansen.

Rounding out the roster is the welterweights, which includes Joachim Hansen, Pat Miletich, Shinya Aoki, Robbie Lawler, Nick Diaz, Jake Shields, Matt Lindland, Kazuo Misaki, Joe Riggs, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Jay Hieron, Mariuz Zaromskis, Lyman Good, Frank Trigg, Nick Thompson, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai and Tyron Woodley.

Now that we know the entire roster, plus the various exclusive downloadable characters you can get upon launch, who is this roster missing that you wanted to see?

Electronic Arts is gearing up for the October release of EA Sports MMA for the next-gen consoles, which you can see the cover of the game at this link here, and has just released a cornucopia of images (which are after the jump) and a keen video to give you a preview of what is to come!

First off, we learn about the innovative Create-a-fighter function, which allows you to plot points on a picture of your face compared to another so that you can have a three-dimensional likeness of yourself in the video game! After that, it is time to train, and why not take some classes from instructors like Randy Couture, Pat Miletich, Bas Rutten or even Rickson Gracie! Bas had hinted to us in an interview a few months ago he was going to be involved in a very important aspect of the game, and now we know what that was!

You can also train and compete internationally, where certain places have different rules. In other words, yes, you can soccer kick your opponent in Japan! After career mode is finished, you can jump onto Xbox Live and battle some real opponents, and maybe even win some real prizes if you are good enough!

EA Sports MMA, which just announced who will be gracing the cover of the game, will have your usual ranked and quick play matches for online gamers, but they have introduced a new and innovative “Live Broadcast” mode to the game. This feature allows players to compete for real-world prizes in-game and build up personas online. You can earn the right to fight in a live broadcast by ascending the leaderboards and work your way to the top

. But EA Sports also wants to incorporate active community members into the mix along with members with standout personalities. How can you show your personality in-game, you ask? Well, that’s probably the coolest part of all of this.

In order to generate a following online, players will be able to create their own hype videos. If selected to appear in a Live Broadcast, these videos are going to play pre-fight. The point is that players can put whatever they want in these videos (no obscene content, of course) to bring out their MMA character and win over fans. All you need to do is film yourself being ridiculous, upload it to EA Sports’ website and you’re good to go!

Viewers can also watch this from their home PC, so no next-gen console needed for your friends or audience! EA Sports MMA is scheduled to released this October for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check out the video for all the details and more info!

According to an interview with Dana White from Kotaku.com, the UFC is dropping their ban on fighters appearing in EA’s MMA video game.

White revealed that he is backing off his earlier threats to ban any fighter who appears in EA’s game to be a part of UFC. “Nah, some people have crossed over,” he told Kotaku, “But believe me this is still going to continue to be a battle. …they’re the me-toos. The UFC game is the original game.”

This brings good tidings to several names and reassures of what is up with this non-issue. As we already know, Randy Couture will be appearing in EA MMA but is under contract to the UFC, as is Frank Trigg now and the recent addition of Vladimir Matyushenko. What is more important is that Dana White holds much contempt for EA, and that is truly the meat of this fight.

Dana is also not worried at all about taking a financial loss in 2010 as two MMA games come out in one year, as he explains in the interview.

“They’re bigger than THQ,” he said. “They have been. Let’s see how they do now. Their earnings reports just came out and they suck. This company that used to control the whole video game world and were these big fucking giants, we’ll see where they are in the next two years. And as as far as the MMA space goes, we’ll kick the living shit out of them.”

Is he warranted in his hatred of anything that rivals the UFC? Sure, why not. Do we expect anything less from Dana? Irrational banning of people is commonplace in the UFC but so is retracting those actions. All that matters is that there are two MMA games coming out and we as the fans have a voice in who succeeds.

Last week, we showed you some new screenshots and a brand spanking new trailer from the EA MMA video game. Now, EA Sports has announced via their Twitter the next three characters for their upcoming MMA title, and those men are Josh Barnett, Joachim Hansen and Vladimir Matyushenko.

Barnett and “Hellboy” were sponsored by EA during their DREAM 13 fights this past weekend, but the “surprise” is “The Janitor,” especially considering that he is in the UFC and all. “Surprise” being quoted since WatchKalibRun.com reported this back in January and it seemingly flew under the radar, even by me! What a terrible nerd I am…

Vlad is not the only UFC fighter under contract who is appearing in the EA MMA game. Let us not forget that Randy Couture will be prominent in that game as well. This will be interesting to see how it plays out, especially if Dana White was serious on his ban of these fighters from his company.

With these three men added to the game, any more interest in playing it?

Above is the new trailer for EA MMA, a video game coming out this year that we have been talking about since last year. Now we get to see some of those things we looked at in screen cap form a week ago in motion, and they definitely do look smooth! Ultimately, the true test will come when we get to test this thing out one on one, but for now we can just marvel at how pretty it looks and how sweaty they made all the fighters.

This trailer has Cung Le, Bobby Lashley, Nick Diaz, Jeff Monson, Fedor and a few others in action and is also giving us something we did not get in the UFC game, and that is entrances. Are they necessary? No, but they do add to the drama and realism and it is one thing they can say that THQ got lazy on.

Has this convinced any nay-sayers into buying this title yet or does this game automatically default to UFC Undisputed 2010 since “this game has no big name fighters”?

Over at the EA Sports Season Opener event in San Francisco last night, EA showed off some of their new sports games. One of the games just happened to be EA Sports MMA and with it, comes new screen shots!

The pics include images of Nick Diaz, Cung Le, Scott Smith, Bobby Lashley and Fedor, among others. We also get to see a few of the new venues, including a Brazilian cage and a Japanese looking ring.

EA Sports MMA will be out sometime this year, probably fourth quarter, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Info Via Destructoid.com

UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been revealed as the fighter to grace the cover of the second installment of THQ’s UFC Undisputed series. The top-selling Platinum/ Greatest hit game is set for a May 25 release, which happens to coincide with the predicted Summer return of Lesnar. UFC 114 is May 29, so there is a strong possibility Brock could return around then to help push game sales. The next UFC Fan Expo also happens to be that same weekend. How convenient.

Not much has been revealed other than this trailer from the Spike Video Game Awards which showed some new mechanics and a new face, but otherwise the game appears identical as far as appearance. As we come closer to this release date, EA MMA will also be on the way. So if you can only buy one, which will it be?
