EA SPORTS MMA Designer Rocky Rivero breaks down every aspect of the EA SPORTS MMA demo, which will be released tomorrow morning, or Tuesday, September 28th, for those without a lunar calendar in arms reach. In a nutshell, the demo will feature four fighters for you to play as – Jake Shields and Jason “Mayhem” Miller in the middleweight divison, and Bobby Lashley and Alistair Overeem in the heavyweight division.

Your demo bout takes place in the Strikeforce ring (where else?) and graphically the game looks superb. The question now is how well does this game play? We will have answers very soon! It is interesting to note that Rivero says “this is not a button-masher” so timing will be a crucial element in the gameplay. There are also a few other keen things the demo will add, including a chance to unlock a classic version of Randy Couture. Check out the trailer above!

When last we spoke to Big Tim… well, last time I did not speak with Tim, Bauzen did on my behalf and I showed up at the end to have a staredown with him. Now that it is months after Moosin and I have my voice back to do an interview, Tim and I discuss how he is training for this fight, as well as what he thought of his and Mariusz’s performance at the Moosin event (which I have a huge photo gallery of here).

We also talk about the heavyweight rankings and why Tim says that Fedor is still on top of the ladder, despite losing to Fabricio Werdum a few weeks ago in Strikeforce, then we get nerdy and talk some video games!

E3 continues to bring us new goodies from the MMA gaming world. This time around, we get a glimpse of some of the gameplay footage of EA Sports MMA with the heavyweights doing battle. Digital versions of Randy Couture and Fedor Emelianeko do battle inside a Japanese style ring, and there must be a winner! Check out the video above to watch the action!

What are my thoughts on it? I think this game is looking pretty great, graphics and gameplay wise. I was very impressed with how THQ handled the UFC game in 2009, especially since I was used to playing the old versions that were essentially button mashers. EA Sports MMA seems to have upped the ante and found more efficient ways to do things and really adding a much deeper sense of understanding towards the sport over the UFC game. The front headlock alone is one aspect of it, how Randy fights to get his hooks in on Fedor’s back one leg at a time, this game captures the ground game in a very comprehensive manner and will make for a very competitive gaming experience.

I can not say which game is better just yet until it is in my hands, but everything I have seen so far from EA has done nothing but impress me. They have innovated a complicated sport that would not normally translate well into a video game, and made it as close to real as we have seen. Look for this in October, and a comprehensive review around the same time! What do you think of this gameplay footage?

E3 has been huge for MMA video games, especially with tons of news about the EA Sports MMA video game, which debuted their cover and unveiled an innovative new “Live Broadcast” mode for online gamers to compete against people for real prizes in a pay-per-view style event. But this time, it is GameStop who has some interesting news!

Gamestop.com has revealed that if you reserve EA Sports MMA with Gamestop, you will receive the previously unannounced Herschel Walker as a GameStop exclusive downloadable fighter (Available online and in-store while supplies last). Gamestop, aside from being notorious for their abysmal buyback policy, is also known for their great exclusives. In the past, they offered a similar exclusive for the launch of the first UFC Undisputed game.

No word yet if other retailers like Amazon.com will offer any exclusive characters, but at least we know of one place so far. Is Herschel Walker a character that will push people to reserve the game with Gamestop or will you wait to see if anyone else has any exclusives?

EA Sports MMA, which just announced who will be gracing the cover of the game, will have your usual ranked and quick play matches for online gamers, but they have introduced a new and innovative “Live Broadcast” mode to the game. This feature allows players to compete for real-world prizes in-game and build up personas online. You can earn the right to fight in a live broadcast by ascending the leaderboards and work your way to the top

. But EA Sports also wants to incorporate active community members into the mix along with members with standout personalities. How can you show your personality in-game, you ask? Well, that’s probably the coolest part of all of this.

In order to generate a following online, players will be able to create their own hype videos. If selected to appear in a Live Broadcast, these videos are going to play pre-fight. The point is that players can put whatever they want in these videos (no obscene content, of course) to bring out their MMA character and win over fans. All you need to do is film yourself being ridiculous, upload it to EA Sports’ website and you’re good to go!

Viewers can also watch this from their home PC, so no next-gen console needed for your friends or audience! EA Sports MMA is scheduled to released this October for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check out the video for all the details and more info!

At yesterday’s EA press conference, EA Sports president announced two major facts about EA Sports MMA, the publisher’s upcoming mixed martial arts game. Two of the headlining fighters in the game, Fedor Emelianenko and Randy Couture, will share the cover. And we finally have a release date: October 19th, 2010. This is also days before my birthday, hint hint.

Furthermore, one new tidbit of news was added and that is the game is no longer EA MMA but now EA Sports MMA. Why the slight change? Not sure. This is a tentative change as of now, and it may return to just EA MMA, but as of now the name is being lengthened.

So get ready this October as this game hits your PS3 and Xbox 360 and we can see which MMA video game is better, UFC Undisputed or the new kid on the block, EA Sports MMA!

UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been revealed as the fighter to grace the cover of the second installment of THQ’s UFC Undisputed series. The top-selling Platinum/ Greatest hit game is set for a May 25 release, which happens to coincide with the predicted Summer return of Lesnar. UFC 114 is May 29, so there is a strong possibility Brock could return around then to help push game sales. The next UFC Fan Expo also happens to be that same weekend. How convenient.

Not much has been revealed other than this trailer from the Spike Video Game Awards which showed some new mechanics and a new face, but otherwise the game appears identical as far as appearance. As we come closer to this release date, EA MMA will also be on the way. So if you can only buy one, which will it be?
