Takedown Entertainment Inc. has announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent to acquire worldwide distribution rights to past and future MMA fights with SportFight, plus certain rights to the brand and sponsorship representation.

Started in 2004 by Olympic wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter Matt Lindland and the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) Randy Couture in Oregon, SportFight has produced over thirty professional events and amateur circuit fights. As a trailblazer of localized MMA, SportFight spawned countless high-caliber MMA fighters such as Chris Leben, Chael Sonnen, Brian Stann, Matt Horwich, Joe Doerkson and Jeremy Horn. Most of the talent roster graduated to the larger organizations such as the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, M-1 Global and DREAM. SportFight also produced a television series, SportFight TV, which aired for three seasons on Comcast.

SportFight owner Matt Lindland said, “From the beginning we knew that MMA was a sporting event like a baseball or basketball, despite all other promoters trying to push MMA as a blood sport. We chose to market and brand SportFight as a family friendly sports venue that attracted a large audience. As one of the top regional shows in the country and with international broadcast in our future, I see us becoming a top show worldwide. This is where Takedown helps since our partnership will get SportFight the global exposure it needs. Bottom line is that SportFight is working with Takedown because their business model makes sense like no other.”
