Ronda Rousey Ippons Three Men on Japanese Game Show

Flashing back to the fall of last year, current Strikeforce champion and then rising star Ronda Rousey appeared on a Japanese gameshow Honoo no Taiiku Kai TV, which invites female athletes from around the world to compete with a panel of Japanese comedians in their chosen sport. In this gem dug up by an intrepid youtube user, Rousey sweeps the three TV personalities.

The three Japanese “comedians” are actually versed in Judo and tend to take the competition more seriously than the women athletes they invite over the compete, which has, on occasion, caused the episode’s guest athlete to have to suddenly turn up the intensity against the panel members. For those not versed in Japanese entertainment, while American comedy is based largely off of observation and misdirection of expectations, Japanese comedy is based more on mutilation and spinal trauma; hence Jackass being touted as a bridge-building cultural experience.

The action starts about ten minutes into the video.
