Bellator FC came to New Jersey, on July 16 for their 2011 tryouts for pro fighters in the tri-state area. Held at the Daddis Fight Camp in Cherry Hill, nearly 50 combatants came to audition for a spot on the roster, including two female fighters, Bridgette Narcisse and Jaime Lowe, a first in the company’s history of open tryouts.

Unlike the previous East Coast tryouts held in Philly last year, Matchmaker Sam Caplan chose two winners to join the company, former Olympic Alternate and University of Pennsylvania wrestling coach Kyle Cerminara (pictured right) and Bull Pen Vale Tudo teammate Mtume Goodrum (pictured left). Goodrum was a surprising pick, especially considering his record of two losses and no wins, but impressed Caplan immensely and was extremely grateful for this opportunity.
Caplan also announced that Albert Alvarez, brother of Bellator FC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, would make his pro debut on upcoming local show, possibly the upcoming fall show where Eddie will defend his title against Michael Chandler. Many local stand outs who tried out included Plinio Cruz, Joshua Key, and J.A. Dudley, who also was given a spot in the company for an upcoming heavyweight bout.
