Pro Elite planning comeback in August
Pro Elite is coming back this year, and this time I am not just screwing with you!
According to sources at MMA Weekly, Pro Elite is gearing up for a comeback, and they have a few big names joining their crew to kick things off. Former ICON owner T. Jay Thompson and former Strikeforce matchmaker Rich Chou have been brought on board to run the show, which was revived by the Stratus Media Group some time ago. The organization is looking at a date towards the end of August to run their first show, and considering that ICON was one of Hawaii’s biggest organizations, chances are the event will be held there. Sources also indicated that former UFC heavyweight champion and recent Strikeforce outcast Andrei Arlovski is likely to be featured on the show as well.
Chou was formerly the matchmaker for Strikeforce until Zuffa terminated him along with a majority of the Strikeforce staff, which was replaced by former WEC employees. Thompson previously worked with Pro Elite during their first incarnation when the company purchased ICON (formerly named “Superbrawl”). Chou is no stranger to Hawaii either, having worked with “Rumble on The Rock” during their string of shows on the island. With a plan to have a show in August, expect news to begin coming hard and fast from Pro Elite, if they are seriously serious about this. Seriously.
