Overeem Vs. Duffee now official and might be for DREAM heavyweight title
There was a lot of speculation as to whom Overeem would fight at DREAM Dynamite. Recently, Todd Duffee was revealed to be the opponent for “The Reem”. However, to add some more fire to the fight, this match has now been speculated to be for the DREAM heavyweight title.
After winning the K-1 Championship this year, DREAM had a tough time finding an opponent for Alistair. He recently said that he had no injuries and he would be ready for whomever at this year’s NYE event. All whom DREAM contacted turned the fight down except for one man.
Todd Duffee was in Tokyo today at a press conference to announce the bout officially. Whether or not this fight has title implications remains to be seen. Officials at DREAM will decide tonight at a meeting if this fight will be for the Interim Heavyweight Championship. The minor hiccup is the fight is set for 3, 5-minute rounds. Official DREAM rules now have title fights with an opening round of 10 minutes, followed by 2 rounds that are 5 minutes.
This should be a great fight and actually would show a little bit of what the UFC missed out on if Duffee should win. I think the guy has potential but against a newly crowned K-1 champ, this fight might not end pretty. What will the outcome be? Post it in the comments.
