Jim Genia on NY Underground MMA scene

The Fight Nerd spoke with MMA journalist, Jim Genia, who has a prolific career in MMA reporting. While covering professional combat sports, Jim found himself in the world of underground fighting in New York, and has written a book on his experiences with that scene titled, “Raw Combat: The Underground World of MMA“. We discussed his impetus for writing a book on this topic, as well as how he first got into this seedy underworld of martial arts, and if he thinks it will disappear once MMA is legalized in NY, as well as why MMA still is not okay in “The Big Apple”. You can pre-order “Raw Combat: The Underground World of Mixed Martial Arts” from Amazon.com for a cool $10.17, or download it for your kindle for $10, it’s definitely worth the read.
