Help get MMA legalized in NY, even if you’re not a New Yorker

MMA in NY is a problem that people who don’t even live in this state know about. There are several reasons why the sport is not sanctioned in my homestate, and none of them are logical. The latest was NY state assembly leader Ronald Canestrari going on record saying that there are no businesses who stand to make a profit if the sport is allowed here, despite the facts all being contrary to his stance. So, it is time for some New Yorker’s to take control, and we can use all the help we can get, in state and out!

“Sambo” Steve Koepfler, who you might remember from the recent Fight Gear headgear review and the classic “Punch like Fedor” video, and Peter Lampasona of US Combat Sports (who recently got pepper-sprayed in some lighter news) have taken it upon themselves to start a letter-writing campaign and have made it incredibly easy for everyone who wants to be a part of this movement to get involved. This is not some petition, but a more direct approach to show the facts to these illogical politicians. Watch the video for the full explanation of how this will work and why, with nationwide help, we can get the sport legalized in a state that should have had it long ago.

You can download all of the letters at the bottom of this link over here, which also has a list of state senators and assemblymen nationwide, meaning that even if you do not live in NY, you can still voice your opinion on why MMA should be legal in “The Big Apple”, and get us one step closer to having an MMA event from the historic Madison Square Garden. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere, so it’s up to you New York (and everyone else in the US)!
