Hector Lombard gets pissed at reporter after Bellator 44

The Fight Nerd May 15, 2011 5

Last night at Caesar’s in Atlantic City, New Jersey, was Bellator 44 which saw Alexander Schlemenko advance to the season five middlweight tournament and Michael Chandler become the lightweight tournament champion to earn himself a shot at Eddie Alvarez’s lightweight title. The show was headlined by middleweight champion Hector Lombard meeting Falaniko Vitale in a non-title fight that went three rounds until Lombard connected with a vicious punch that sent Vitale face-first to the mats.

At the post-fight press conference, a reporter from Sherdog.com asked Lombard about his performance in the fight which garnered many boo’s from the live audience. Lombard dismissed the question and was unhappy even answering it. Towards the end of the press conference, the same reporter asked a question to Alexander Schlemenko about a rematch with Lombard, which made the champion grow angrier to the point that he grabbed the mic and addressed the reporter directly. It almost seemed like we would have a bonus fight with Lombard VS a reporter, but cooler heads prevailed. Needless to say, this journalist did not ask Lombard for an interview after the event.

Stay tuned to the site for my interviews with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Falaniko Vitale, Brett Cooper, Patricky “Pitbull” Freire, and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney coming up this week.

Lombard’s bad temper can be attributed to his overuse of steroids. I’ve never seen a fighter as obviously artificially enhanced as Lombard is.

Wow, good eye Bob, Lombard’s cool demeanor was unmistakably the product of roid rage. You’ve definitely got a future as a combat sports regulator. Maybe they’ll just let the fighters piss in your mouth after the fight and let you decide who was juicing and who wasn’t.
