A beat up Duane “Bang” Ludwig has seen better days in this doodle. We talked to Duane waaay back in October and since then, he found himself back in the UFC but is currently out of action after a terrible ankle injury just a week ago. We wish Bang a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on his feet and in the octagon again soon!

Fresh from his loss to Randy Couture at UFC 109, here is Mark “The Hammer” Coleman. Owner of the most awesome championship belt in MMA history, the Pride Grand Prix 2000 Championship belt, which was valued at more than the prize money for winning the entire tournament! Not sure if it is the end for Mark or not after his performance against Couture, but at least we got to finally see these two legendary wrestlers duke it out.

Dan “The Beast” Severn all dressed up with nowhere to go (from a Hall of Fame induction ceremony reference pic). I interviewed Severn not long ago on Fight Nerd Radio, it was a pretty interesting interview to say the least. We spoke for about 30 minutes and I could not believe some of the stuff he said, go give it a listen! He talked about what he thinks of today’s fighters, boring fights and video games. I am definitely making a highlight reel of it very soon as a vid!

Jorge Gurgel, UFC veteran, TUF contestant and currently slugging it out in ShoMMA, oh and best bud of Rich “Ace” Franklin! A BJJ Black belt who is more than content to throw hands instead of grappling, nothing too novel in today’s MMA but he still draws alot of ire from critics and fans for doing so. Here is a quick doodle of him, notice how I neglected to finish his hair and probably made it comically longer than it should be. That’s what you get when you have tall, pointy tips and when I get carried away with my pens! Lesson learned!

In honor of his return to the cage at UFC 108 this weekend, “J-Lau” Joe Lauzon, whose shoulders look a bit hunched in retrospective. My reference pic was from a press conference photo ( I use those shots often) where he was leaning over and I did not correct it in the drawing so now he just looks quite beefy thanks to my mistake. Lesson for you artists out there – using a photo is a good thing, but following it religiously, not so much. Lauzon is taking on Sam Stout this weekend so good luck to him! I need to do a drawing of “The Upgrade” Dany Lauzon soon too, so he is on the great big list of fighters I need to draw now!

Host of MTV’s “Bully Beatdown” and one of the craziest SOB’s in MMA today, here is Jason “Mayhem” Miller in a slightly quieter pose. Will I draw him when he is on a Rockstar energy drink caffeine rush? Eventually, but for now, here is a more reserved Mayhem looking ready to lay some smackdown on whoever he is staring across the cage.

“The Phenom” Vitor Belfort puts his dukes up! I think the reference was from a weigh-in from a Pride FC event. Remember Pride? It sure was awesome. Sigh.

“The Moonwolf.” Possibly one of the strangest nicknames in MMA, but still not as bad as “Dreamcatcher.” Poor Mousasi. Anyway, here is Shooto champion Rumina Sato, done in pen and ink with the bottom part done in photoshop because I forgot to finish it by hand and was too lazy to finish it and rescan it otherwise.

“The Maine-iac” Tim Sylvia makes his way into the art blog. I met Tim once at the first Affliction: Banned press conference in NYC, he is so much taller than me I was practically talking with his crotch. Not pleasant for either one of us.

I am back from my thanksgiving snooze and time for more drawings. Today is “The Zen Machine” Mario Sperry of the Brazilian Top Team. One of my fave doodles, I like the nose for some reason. Hope you like the nose, and the rest of him, as well!
