Bas Rutten is a wolf in “The Zookeeper”
MMA legend and former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten is making his return to the silver screen this summer as “Sebastian the Wolf” in Kevin James new family-friendly movie, “The Zookeeper”.
Bas has worked with comedian James in other movies including “The Vault” and is also working with him on his MMA comedy, “Here comes the Boom,” which is being worked on with the UFC as well. “Kevin is the same person as he was when I met him 14 years ago, when he was doing the first season of ‘King of Queens,’” said Rutten to MMA Weekly about the project. “I admire people like that.
“I have done many projects with him, like for the ‘King of Queens’ and for Sony we shot the web series ‘Dusty Peacock.’ He likes what I am doing so he asked me if I was interested to be the voice of the wolf in ‘The Zookeeper,’ and needless to say, I said yes… I know many other people who became successful and suddenly turned out to be A-holes. Not Kevin, he’s a perfectionist, and just an all around good guy. He and I have a lot in common and there is never a sad moment when we hook up.”
In the movie, Bas’ character will teach James about “how to mark his territory”, which confirms that yes, there will be urination jokes. Stay classy, America! Sadly, the above trailer does not contain a clip of Bas reading any lines as the wolf, nor does it show any substance of what the movie has to offer. What it does have is Kevin James yelling and running into stationary objects, and that is what you call Summer blockbuster material. Internet cynicism aside, it is a kids movie so I can not go in there expecting “Citizen Kane”, and it could be fun for the little kids, so consider this an excuse to make your kids happy if you have any and get a dose of subtle MMA at the same time.
